Editorial policy
How we research, source, review and correct what we publish.
Standards
What every piece meets
- Primary sources first. Facts come from Cifas, the Financial Ombudsman Service, the ICO, the FCA, legislation and court or ombudsman decisions — not from other commentary.
- Every guide lists its sources, with the date each one was last checked.
- No invented numbers. We do not publish statistics, outcomes or success rates we cannot source.
- Neutral about firms. We never recommend one firm over another. Law-firm articles are linked and summarised in our own words, never reproduced.
- Review dates are real. A guide shows when it was last reviewed, and whether a qualified reviewer has checked it.
How content is produced
Research tools, human sign-off
We use software, including AI research assistants, to monitor sources and prepare drafts. Nothing is published automatically. Every guide and news item is checked against its sources and approved by a person before it goes live.
Every guide shows the date it was last reviewed against its sources. A guide that has also been checked by a qualified legal reviewer says Checked by, with their name and role.
Corrections
If we get something wrong
Email the editor with the page and the correction. We will check it against the source, correct the page, and update its review date.
